Born in 1944 as a small artisan business, MOLINARI today can boast two very modern industrial plants... MOLINARI was founded in Civitavecchia, in the province of Rome, and upon the site of its first artisan-level operations was born SAMBUCA extra MOLINARI. The road to success was achieved whitin a short period of time, and in 1959 the first industrial-level complex was inaugurated. 
The growth necessitated by consumer demand called for ushering in a second complex. In 1975, at Colfelice in the Frosinone province, the MOLINARI-SUD SPA, was inaugurated, a new and completely-automated complex technology at the service of quality - designed to respond to continuous developments in the Italian and foreign markets.
SAMBUCA EXTRA MOLINARI is a sweet, strong liqueur whose base consists of essential oils extracted through steam distillation of the seeds from the star anise, conferring upon the fruit a strong aroma of anise which is soluble in the pure state. To this whole is added a concentrated solution of sugar and other natural aromas, of which MOLINARI jealously guards the recipe. They are the secret ingredients which make SAMBUCA EXTRA MOLINARI unique in the anise-based liqueurs market.
The MOLINARI Family began producing the exquisite liqueur featuring the word "EXTRA" without misleading anyone, as fundamentally stated in the Ruling of 2/27/70 ; In this concrete case, the expert testimony of the disposed has demonstrated that MOLINARI sambuca is produced with alcohol, sugar and essences of a particularly fine quality, and using especially accurate technical methods.
Those particular characteristics, and overall ingredients, that perhaps solely MOLINARI utilizes, but which certainly MOLINARI alone uses in accordance with proportions and proce-dures tested during half a century, warrant distinguishing the product in question from the others of its competitors, rendering it truly fine and of superior quality.
The denomination EXTRA therefore corresponds to the product’s sum virtues, about which the buyer cannot be deceived in any manner.
Consequently, sales in the national market took off. Professionalism – and prudent publicity and promotional efforts – over the years have determined the success of MOLINARI, which today justifiably participates in the re-launching of its great product.
