HARRY’S FRANCE: A SUCCESS STORY

 

Harry's France evolved from two families: a Châteauroux baker who managed to import and promote American expertise in making loaves

of bread; and a baker from Talmont, who developed a range of morning good specialties inspired by brioche recipes from the Vendée region

of western France. From these ancestors, Harry's France inherited two principles founding: quality and innovation.

 

Just after the Liberation in 1945, a French baker's son named Paul Picard met Americans based in Châteauroux, who told him about the bread they ate back home.

This prompted the French baker's first trip to the United States. A few years later, Paul Picard decided to import American expertise in making loaves of bread.

 

 

A WELL-ESTABLISHED LEADER IN EUROPE

 

Harry's occupies a unique place in the European market for a short shelf-life, branded bakery products.

From its French base, the Group has expanded throughout Europe and is now present in other countries:

Belgium, Spain, Russia and Portugal.

The association with Barilla which acquired the Harry's Group in 2003, created the leading Pan-European group of pre-packed bakery products.

Harry's Group employs 3,100 people and has sales in excess of 640 million euros.

In Europe, it is the only player with Barilla in its sector with industrial and marketing expertise in three product categories:

bread, morning goods and cakes.

The 2 major brands used by the Group are: Harry's in France, Russia, Belgium and Portugal and La Bella Easo in Spain.
