HARIBO was founded by Hans Riegel in Bonn in Germany in 1920, and today is the world’s largest soft candy manufacturer. The company employed 160 people in 1930 and continued to grow, in particular, by purchasing new factories throughout Europe. In 1982 HARIBO crossed the Atlantic Ocean and established its own distribution organization in America. HARIBO, which has specialized in soft candy production, now produces in 18 factories in 13 countries. The company employs over 6000 in total and its products are being sold in over 100 countries.
In 1922 HARIBO started the production of the now worldwide renowned bear-shaped candy called “Gold Bears”. Today HARIBO produces over 80 million pieces of Goldbears a day in factories all over the world.
The company produces three main types of candy: Gums & Jellies, Liquorice and Marshmallows and owns the MAOAM, DULCIA, and BÄREN&SCHMIDT brands next to the HARIBO brand. HARIBO offers customers a diverse product range and is market leader many areas. With its 85 year experience HARIBO leads the soft candy market and is one of the biggest confectionery producers worldwide. Although ARRIBA produces candies in countless shapes and sizes its most important policy is to produce and sell high quality products that are delicious and joyful for all, children and adults alike. In 2003 HARIBO was found to be “the most reliable brand in the European candy market” according to one of the largest European consumer research studies.
Pamir Gida in Turkey had already been operating and importing products for over 10 years when HARIBO purchased a 100% share of the company in 2001 and it started to trade under the name HARIBO Turkey. In November 2004 the factory in Istanbul/Hadimköy was updated and equipped with brand-new and state-of-the-art technology.
HARIBO Turkey owns the well known PAMIR brand which has been selling jellies and marshmallows since 1993. Next to the PAMIR brand HARIBO Turkey sells under the international HARIBO brand and also ÇOOK ŞEKER brand. ÇOOK ŞEKER is primarily known for its bulk candy shops. It is also possible to buy and enjoy HARIBO products in nearly 50 ÇOOK ŞEKER shops located in many shopping centers all over Turkey.
HARIBO Turkey currently employs over 300 peoples in its factory in Turkey and exports approximately 70% of its production. The factory manufactures more than 750 products with the help of its specialized soft candy team.
